We are seeking a Senior Site Manager to oversee market operations on market days (Wednesdays), and will work alongside an Assistant Site Manager and the Market Manager, and report to the Market Manager.
The Senior Site Manager will be responsible for all aspects of market operations on market days. This position requires the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people, including: customers, vendors, volunteers, community members and business owners. The Senior Site Manager’s general responsibilities include: coordinating market set-up and break-down each day with the help of the assistant site manager, managing vendor relationships, assisting the manager in operating the EBT (food stamps) program, answering customer questions, and assisting with the market’s special events program.
The Market Manager must be available every Wednesday from May 29 - October 16, be willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions, and be able to safely lift and carry at least 40 pounds. The position requires the ability to work independently as well as interdependently with the team of volunteers, interns and staff members.
The Wednesday hours for the Senior Site Manager are generally from 1pm - 8:30 pm.; however, the Senior Site Manager is expected to remain in the lot until the last vendor leaves. Because the market operates in the afternoon, the hours will get shorter throughout the fall. Additionally, the Senior Site Manager is expected to be available to hang No Parking signs in the Houst parking lot Tuesday evening or early Wednesday morning.
The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic advocate of the local food movement and Hudson Valley agriculture. The Senior Site Manager must be reliable, self-motivated and have strong communication and customer service skills.
